Hi! I’m Mason,
I’m a communications and multimedia storyteller who enjoys finding the human side of a story and figuring out how to share it clearly and creatively. I graduated from the University of Utah in 2023 with a BA in Communication with an emphasis in Journalism. While in school, I worked on the design desk at the Daily Utah Chronicle, where I created graphics and layouts for both print and digital publication. That experience sparked an interest in work that sits at the intersection of writing, design and visual storytelling. I am passionate about the role thoughtful communication can play in helping people understand and connect with information.
Most recently, I served as the Marketing and Communications Content VISTA for Portland Public Schools in Portland, Maine. In that role, I supported communications for 17 schools and multiple district departments by producing multimedia content across newsletters, social media and websites. A big part of the work involved connecting with school communities to find stories that highlight student achievements, staff voices and district initiatives. Projects like the “What I Learned” student voice video series gave me the opportunity to independently develop a series from start to finish—interviewing students, filming, editing and sharing their perspectives with a wider audience. Work like this has strengthened my interest in communications that center real people and community experiences.
Outside of work, I spend as much time as I can outdoors—hiking, snowshoeing, camping or river rafting. When I’m not on an outdoor adventure, you can usually find me on the yoga mat or attempting to knit my next sweater.
